Sarah Graham, Administration Services Manager

Sarah Graham

Sarah’s passion for Canadian ecosystems began as a child, where she was raised close to Georgian Bay, Ontario, surrounded by the forests of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence area.

Sarah’s experiences with nature as a child compelled her to pursue a career working with environmental organizations and initiatives. After completing a Bachelor of Arts and a Postgraduate Certificate in International Development and Project Management, Sarah decided to spend three years in South Africa, where she managed multiple wildlife research and monitoring projects while contributing to conservation programs and education initiatives. Her experience in South Africa led her to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Ecological Surveying to feed her passion for and enhance her knowledge of ecology.

After some time in South Africa, Sarah felt compelled to return home to support the ecosystems that first inspired her. While back in Ontario, she led a black bear research project before moving to BC in 2017, where she became inspired by old-growth temperate rainforests. Sarah’s next role working at Givergy brought her to Vancouver, where she became familiarized with the world of nonprofits by assisting a diverse group of charities and foundations to effectively deliver fundraising events and maximize their fundraising potential. Sarah’s organizational skills and attention to detail helped her to rapidly develop and excel in this role.

In 2020, Sarah moved to Kamloops and began working for the BC Conservation Foundation, where she managed hundreds of wildlife, fish and conservation projects throughout the province. Her love of completing tasks with clear and specific processes grew as she developed her experience in financial administration, database management, organizational logistics, contract management, and grant writing and reporting.

Sarah now spends her time in the inland temperate rainforest near Revelstoke, and the interior grasslands of Kamloops. If she isn’t knee-deep in a spreadsheet, you can find her swimming, hiking, or writing about the ecosystems she loves. Sarah thrives when she is working in administrative roles that allow her to efficiently and accurately contribute her organizational skills to supporting the protection of nature. She is particularly motivated to direct her wide-ranging skills, experience, and passion towards protecting endangered ecosystems, especially one of her favourites: The temperate rainforests that have brought her great inspiration and fulfillment throughout her time in BC. Sarah is now thrilled to be supporting the Nature-Based Solutions Foundation and its mission of protecting Canada’s most endangered ecosystems.
