What protected areas designations does the Nature-Based Solutions Foundation support?

New protected areas can include Indigenous Protected Areas, Tribal Parks, Provincial Parks,

Provincial Conservancies, National Parks, National Park Reserves, Regional Parks, Ecological Reserves, Natural Areas, and other legislated protected areas that forbid major commercial resource extraction. This includes but is not limited to commercial forestry, mining, oil and gas development, agricultural conversion of native ecosystems, urban development, and hydro-electric development.

Is the Nature-Based Solutions Foundation involved in advocacy and lobbying?

No. The Nature-Based Solutions Foundation will not be involved in any lobbying or advocacy around government policies or legislation. Our role will be to solely fund the protection of land.

Where will your funding come from?

Philanthropists, businesses, foundations, individuals, and governments.

Does the Nature-Based Solutions Foundation have charitable status?

Yes, we have federal charitable status as of January 2022. We are also able to provide tax-deductible receipts to US donors through our Friends of America fund, and to some EU donors through our Friends of the EU fund. Who can receive grants from the Nature-Based Solutions Foundation?

Grants will be given to qualified donees to protect endangered ecosystems. Qualified donees can include organisations with charitable status, land trusts, First Nations, and governments. 

We are not accepting solicitations for funding. Applications for grants will be offered by invite only.
